LOWER MAINLAND - Recent government audits found that two-thirds of Lower Mainland casinos were in violation of rules designed to reduce gambling addiction, the Vancouver Sun has learned.
Every year, the gaming policy and enforcement branch audits each casino in B.C. to ensure it complies with government gambling regulations.
In response to a Freedom of Information request, the B.C. government provided The Sun with the most recent enforcement branch audit for each of the nine casinos in the Lower Mainland.
The copies provided to The Sun are heavily edited — especially the sections on surveillance and security.
But they indicate that six of the nine casinos were cited for violating rules designed to prevent problem gambling.”
